Regalia

Academic caps and gowns are suggested, but optional, for those attending the WSU Global Campus commencement ceremony both in person or virtually.

Student Regalia Rental

Global Campus students will order regalia online through Herff Jones. Below are regalia dates and deadlines, as well other important information.

  • January 8 to February 16 at 11:59 p.m. ET – Early Bird Pricing with Regular Shipping.   
    • $62.00 (undergrad regalia), $95.00 (Masters regalia) + $18.10 (shipping)
  • February 17 to March 22 at 11:59 p.m. ET – Regular Pricing with Regular Shipping.  
    • $72.00 (undergrad regalia), $105 (Masters regalia) + $18.10 (shipping)
  • March 23 to April 12 at 11:59 p.m. ET – Regular Pricing with Express Shipping.    
    • $72.00 (undergrad regalia), $105 (Masters regalia) + $26.65 (2-day air shipping after 2-3 days processing)

Regalia ships in 3-4 weeks for regular shipping. All Global Campus students are “home shipping.” This means that all regalia will be shipped and will not be available for pick up at commencement.

If you are renting regalia, you will return your gown and yolk. Graduate students will also return their hood. Shipping includes a pre-paid label to send the regalia back to Herff Jones.

If you wish to buy regalia instead of rent, email Academicregalia@herffjones.com. You have the option to buy the yolk or hood, and not the gown, if you choose.

Check your regalia as soon as  you receive it to make sure everything is correct. Please do not wait until the day of the ceremony. 

ASWSU Regalia Reimbursements 

ASWSU Global provides financial reimbursement for graduation regalia for eligible Global Campus students. For regalia reimbursements, apply by May 10. Learn more and apply on the ASWSUG reimbursement webpage.

Tips for wearing regalia

  • Wear tassels on the right side.
  • Remove academic caps during the posting of the colors and national anthem.
  • Wear your stoles, sashes, and cords underneath the crimson/grey University yoke. Pull the yoke up snug to your throat with no sagging or gaping. (To do this, reach around to the back and pull the end of the yoke down.) 

Honor cords

Undergraduates earning a 3.5 or higher grade-point average are considered honor students and can receive a custom WSU honor cord of crimson and silver.

To allow for publication of the appropriate honors in advance of commencement, computation of honors will be done prior to the end of the final semester. However, following the student’s final semester, the Registrar will recalculate the student’s GPA including the last semester’s work, and only this computation will determine official graduation honors which will be noted on your diploma.

All Global campus students will have honor cords mailed to their mailing address listed in myWSU approximately 2 weeks prior to commencement. If you have questions regarding receiving your honor cord please email online@wsu.edu.

Student Involvement Cords

By participating with a student organization and attending at least four meetings or events in a semester, you can receive a cord to wear with your regalia at commencement. Visit our Student Clubs and Organizations page to learn more about how to participate.
