Next Steps

Congratulations on your admission to WSU Global Campus! You’ve already completed some important steps to get to this point. The information below will help you understand what comes next as you prepare for Orientation, advising, and class registration.

Confirm Your Enrollment

Check Your Portal

  • Depending on when you confirm your enrollment and when your term starts, there may be times when you’re waiting for the next step to become available. Check your FutureCoug Portal regularly for tasks, deadlines, and updates.
  • Bookmark your portal and return often.
  • Your portal will guide you through each step of the enrollment process, from application to your first day of classes.

Review Your Plan

  • Your advisor information will appear in myWSU once an advisor has been assigned to you.
  • Your advisor will create a personalized Program Planning Worksheet based on your intended major and any transfer, former student, or previous WSU credit.
    • If you have transfer credit, review your Transfer Credit Report and make note of any questions you would like to discuss during your initial advising appointment.
  • Once your Program Planning Worksheet is available and Orientation has opened for your start term, you’ll receive an email and a notification in FutureCoug Portal with instructions for getting started.

Thinking About Changing Your Major?

  • Email your advisor as soon as possible so they can update your academic plan before completing your worksheet.

Important: Advisors do not typically meet with students before Orientation is completed. If you are thinking about changing your major, email your advisor as soon as possible. Otherwise, save your academic planning questions for Orientation and your initial advising appointment.

Complete Orientation

  • Orientation opens seasonally based on your start term.
  • Check FutureCoug Portal for information about when Orientation will become available.
  • Once Orientation has been released for your start term, students can generally expect access within 5 business days of being assigned an advisor.
  • When Orientation is available, you’ll receive an email from your advisor with your Program Planning Worksheet and instructions for completing Orientation.
  • Orientation is completed entirely online and takes most students about one hour to complete.

Important: Orientation must be completed before meeting with your advisor.

Meet Your Advisor

During your initial advising appointment:

  • Review your Program Planning Worksheet and any transfer, former student, or previous WSU credit.
  • Discuss degree requirements, course recommendations, and your academic goals.
  • Ask any questions that came up during Orientation.
  • Your advisor will help you prepare for registration.
  • Advising appointments are held online through Zoom.

Register for Classes

  • After completing Orientation and meeting with your advisor, you’ll be eligible to register for classes.

Important: Some students may need to resolve holds or complete placement requirements before registering. Taking care of these items early can help prevent delays.

Celebrate Your Success!

Getting through all the steps from application to class registration takes time, effort, and persistence. Take a moment to celebrate everything you’ve accomplished. Your start date at WSU Global will be here before you know it!
