Graduation vs. Commencement

Registration for graduation and registration for commencement are two separate processes.

  • Graduation = applying to have your degree awarded
  • Commencement = the celebration ceremony (in person or virtual) you register for separately

Registration

Once you have applied to graduate, you may register to attend commencement. All participating graduates—in person or virtual—must complete the online registration form. After submission, your registration is reviewed, and you’ll receive an email confirmation when approved.
