The Washington State University Global Campus student government (ASWSU Global) is now offering a financial reimbursement program for online students’ grocery expenses.
The temporary program is part of an effort to meet the needs of Global Campus students during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“We know that many of our students are being seriously impacted by the pandemic,” said Morgan Atwood, ASWSU Global president. “We’ve seen that there is an increased need and decided that a reimbursement for food was the quickest way we could provide support and help bridge the gap that many of our students are experiencing right now.”
The reimbursement covers up to $50 of out of pocket costs (before tax) for groceries purchased from a market or grocer. All currently enrolled Global Campus students who are paying service and activity (S&A) fees are eligible for the program.
A full list of eligible grocery items, along with a reimbursement application form, are available on the ASWSU Global grocery reimbursement page. Funds are limited and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis, so it’s recommended that students apply as soon as possible.
“We want students to know that we understand how stressful and uncertain these times are,” said Atwood. “We will continue to work hard to provide services and advocacy for Global Campus students as we move forward.”
ASWSU Global provides a range of other reimbursement programs as well, including reimbursements for mental health, childcare, technology, hygiene items, and more. A full list of reimbursements and qualification requirements are available on the ASWSU Global reimbursement page.
“All of us who serve in student government are Global Campus students too. We understand the unique challenges our diverse community faces every day,” said Atwood. “Our ultimate goal is to support and advocate for our fellow students around the globe, whatever the circumstances.”
In addition to reimbursements, ASWSU Global also provides scholarships, service and engagement opportunities, advocacy, and a wide range of services designed to support the Global Campus student community. Learn more on the ASWSU Global Website.
