2022 Society of Distinguished Alumni Inductees

Since WSU Global Campus’ founding in 1992, thousands of students around the globe have graduated and gone on to make an indelible mark on the world, thriving in their careers and personal lives while sharing their success with others through philanthropic pursuits. In 2022, Global Campus established the Society of Distinguished Alumni in order to honor these exceptional Cougs and their accomplishments, putting a spotlight on their inspiring spirit of excellence and generosity.

Distinguished Alums are prominent business, civic and philanthropic leaders, ardent supporters of the WSU Cougar family and unwavering advocates of lifelong learning. Each year, Global Campus recognizes more Cougs who have made a lasting, positive impact on their various communities and society as a whole.

Meet 2023’s inductee

Ron Schott

Ron Schott, a digital marketing and advertising pioneer, embarked on his professional journey after graduating from Washington State University Global Campus in 2008.

His career took flight in the PR industry, where he fell in love with digital marketing, specifically social marketing and the ways brands could connect with customers online. Ron’s career included pivotal roles at Spring Creek Group, from Community Manager to Senior Strategist. His leadership extended to the UK-based team when Spring Creek was acquired by IPG Mediabrands in 2012. He later joined Seattle-based startup Simply Measured in 2014.

In 2016, Ron joined Microsoft as part of its Global Advertising team as Senior Communications Manager where he worked on global campaigns, including numerous Super Bowl and holiday campaigns.

Recently, Ron transitioned to the Windows team where he leads efforts to align Windows marketing with its partners in the hardware and silicon spaces.  Ron’s professional journey reflects his unwavering commitment to the ever-evolving digital landscape – something he was inspired by during his time with Global Campus. He also sees technology as a potential driving force for good in a changing world, one that can help people around the world achieve more.

Ron currently lives with his wife Camille and two children in Woodway, Washington.  He is an avid Cougar football fan who has been attending home football games for 40 years and supports Washington State University as a President’s Associate donor and Alumni Association membership.
