Join Rebecca Cooney, Washington State University professor of Strategic Communication, in a presentation on some of the career paths available within the field of communications.

Rebecca L. Cooney is a communication practitioner and leader in online education with more than 26 years of experience in the field of professional communications and postsecondary education. She is a scholarly associate professor at The Edward R. Murrow College at Washington State University teaching courses in integrated campaigns, user experience design, message strategy, and digital metrics. She is the director of Murrow Online Programs, a research associate on the NIH-funded Center of Excellence for Natural Product-Drug Interaction Research (NaPDI) grant, and a principal consultant at Stickperson LLC. 

She holds a BA in organizational communications and MS in communications and is a published author for a textbook and several trade publication articles. She is a recipient of the 2021 President’s Distinguished Teaching Award for Career-Track Faculty and was a Provost Featured Faculty member in 2019. She is also the recipient of the Oaks Award for innovation in teaching (2019), Scripps Howard Visiting Professor in Social Media (2015), and Plank Center Educator Fellow awards (2014).
