S&A Fees Impact
The Global Campus S&A fees have been allocated to a number of organizations to fund initiatives to support non-academic services and activities to enhance the Global Campus student experience. Read below to learn more about how the fees have been, and continue to be used in this effort.
Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Program Goals
Total Allocation: $1,548,876
The allocation for ASWSU Global supports the work of the Global Campus student government by funding Executive Board stipends and contributing to the operational costs associated with leadership, representation, and student advocacy. A portion of the allocation also supports the Resource Allocation & Accountability (RAA) Committee, an independent student-led board that reviews and recommends S&A fee proposals on behalf of Global Campus students.
ASWSU Global plays a central role in fostering connection, community, and student engagement across the fully online campus. Annual programming includes the Global Campus Commencement Reception Dinner, the in-person/virtual Town Hall, Listening Sessions, and other collaborative events with WSU campuses and student organizations that support belonging, professional growth, and campus involvement. The Town Hall has already helped elevate key student experiences and contributed to ongoing conversations with university leadership about improving support structures for Global Campus learners.
In addition to programming, ASWSUG Global works to strengthen the online student experience through proactive outreach, communication, and advocacy. Ongoing efforts include improving the visibility and usability of student resources, gathering and elevating student feedback to university leadership, facilitating weekly Executive Board meetings, coordinating the Student Affairs Committee, holding Open Forums for students, and partnering with academic and administrative units to ensure Global Campus student perspectives are represented in decision-making processes.
ASWSUG also administers limited student support initiatives, including year-round grocery voucher assistance and short-term emergency funding to help students experiencing unexpected financial strain, such as those impacted by recent changes to SNAP eligibility. These student-centered supports aim to reduce immediate barriers to well-being and promote equitable access to essential resources for Global Campus learners.
In addition to current initiatives, ASWSUG is actively exploring student-led proposals for future investments that have the potential to make a substantial impact on the Global Campus experience. These efforts focus on identifying gaps, evaluating high-value opportunities, and developing sustainable solutions that expand support for online learners as the academic year continues.
Students are encouraged to share their experiences and suggestions through the Global Campus Student Feedback Form. Additional information about ASWSUG’s leadership, programs, and initiatives can be found on the ASWSU Global website.

As Washington’s land grant university, Washington State University’s mission is to extend educational access to better serve residents, employers, and industry. WSU’s Global Campus is the solution for reaching adult learners and traditional college students who increasingly require more flexibility in continuing and completing their education.
We further recognize that to provide a comprehensive education, which is a hallmark of WSU, we must offer opportunities for learning and engagement beyond the course space for Global Campus students learning at a distance. The proposed funding will be used to support multiple functions in various programs devoted to providing student support, activities, events, and engagement for WSU Global Campus students that may otherwise be unavailable to them. The programs and services aim to provide a student environment that contributes to the cultural and social growth of WSU Global Campus students who face many unique circumstances while completing their degree from a distance.
The WSU Global Campus Student Involvement and Support proposal and budget represents four major aspects of student involvement and engagement for WSU Global Campus students. The coordination of the areas listed below allows Student Support to maximize resources, draw on the expertise of multiple staff across each area and provide a more holistic and engaging student experience for Global Campus students.
- Student Involvement, which supports ASWSU Global
- Global Campus Mentoring, which aims to help students thrive in their online course space and beyond
- Global Connections, which offers opportunities for co- and extra-curricular activities and informal learning outside the course space
- Global Esports program, which provides varsity level opportunities to students with an interest in competitive gaming.

The Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) advances the land-grant mission of WSU by engaging students, faculty, and community as co-educators, co-learners, and co-leaders to effect positive change. For over 15 years, the CCE has received WSU Global Campus S&A funds to extend support to Global Campus students engaged in service learning, community service activities, and leadership development.
All WSU Global students who pay S&A Fees can utilize the CCE’s 1,000 community partners to find community engagement opportunities, wherever they are located. The CCE also works directly with WSU Global faculty to develop service-learning courses (typically 8-10 per year) and supports over 400 Global students enrolled in those courses through regular Zoom, email, and phone communication. Additionally, CCE coordinates “Cougs Vote” and works closely with ASWSUG students to promote voting, registration, education, and turnout, benefitting all WSU Global students.
The CCE utilizes these S&A funds in the following ways:
- Support and manage Global Campus students’ community engagement activities
- Engage directly with Global Campus students
- Directly Impact Global Campus students’ professional and personal development
