Now Recruiting Committee Members

Committee meetings are led by the ASWSU executive board, and they’re a great way to share your input, ask questions, gain leadership experience, and meet other students.

Most committees meet once a month, and students are welcome to attend if they want to get involved. For more information, please reach out to the relevant committee chair.

Meeting Schedule

Student Events and Activities Committee

The Students Events and Activities Committee helps successfully complete programs for the student body. The idea of this committee is to hear what students want and need, and to deliver them in the form of various events. WSU Global has a wide range of students from various backgrounds, ages, and cities across the globe, and it is our job to effectively host events that adhere to their needs. We encourage students to share ideas and help bring them to life. Due to COVID, most events will be virtual.

Meets on the third Monday of every month at 4:30 PM PST

Resource Allocation and Accountability Committee

This is the first year this committee will form a part of our student government. This body is composed of 7 students, one of which will be the Chair, and another will be a Vice Chair. Their purpose is to interpret, enforce and uphold the ASWSUG bylaws and constitution. In the case of a dispute or grievance brought up against any staff member of ASWSUG, this committee will review and mediate the conflict. This group of students will also be responsible for allocating S&A fees that students pay, which funds our organization among other things on WSU Global campus. Resources Committee

This committee is in charge of creating and providing different types of resources to all Global Campus students. One of our main goals is to help students who have some kind of limitation to overcome it and be successful in their studies. Resources can vary and could go from different kinds of reimbursements such as cap and gown, mental health, and scholarships. Due to COVID-19, this department is especially interested in offering assistance with food, child care, and mental health. ASWSU takes pride in offering the grocery reimbursement which has been one of the most needed and popular resources so far. Right now that reimbursement is under review, but ASWSU expects this program to continue and will be in constant improvement. Another important goal we agreed to set, is to provide mental health resources of many types. Because as students, this can represent an obstacle to move forward with our academic endeavors.  We encourage you, as a member of Global Campus, to get involved and reach out to us and participate. ASWSU welcomes any ideas, this is an open place where we listen to you. Let us know if you have any concerns or needs that we could take into consideration.

Meets on the last Monday of each month at 4 PM PST

Diversity Committee

The purpose of the Diversity Committee is to bring together members of our global campus community who are engaged in diversity and inclusion initiatives and willing to share ideas to close the diversity gap in and reach out to historically underrepresented groups including Persons of Color, LGBTQ+ community, socio-economically disadvantaged, and more. The committee will meet on the last Friday of every month to discuss, communicate and create collaborations in ongoing and upcoming initiatives and events that support the goal of enhancing the environment for diversity, inclusion and equity across our global campus community.

Our goal is to listen to all areas and groups on campus to review disconnects, and together, come up with solutions to bridge and eventually close the gaps. As situations and events occurs across the world that impacts any member of our campus community, the committee will serve as a resource for organizing opportunities for advocacy for those members who choose to participate. As with all diversity committee efforts, participation is optional, and each member have the choice to participate at a level that they are comfortable. With this Diversity Committee, we can directly impact the change we want to see in our community. Everyone is invited to join. It will not only be a wonderful service opportunity, but adds a great emphasis to your resume, scholarship application, or graduate school application. Let us change the World together, starting with WSU Global Campus.
