Who is eligible for grocery vouchers?

ASWSUG and Global Campus Development are working together to make food assistance accessible to more students. Through the combined support of Global Services and Activities (S&A) Fees and donor generosity, the Grocery Voucher Program is now available to ALL Global Campus students, helping create more equitable access to basic needs resources.

How do I apply?

Eligible students can apply by completing the Grocery Assistance Program application, linked above. Thanks to an improved eligibility verification process, students no longer need to provide proof of enrollment with their application.

How much assistance can I receive?

Eligible students can receive up to $200 in grocery vouchers per semester.

Funding is limited, and vouchers will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

How will I receive my grocery voucher?

You will receive a physical Tango card pre-loaded with your grocery voucher balance. Your balance does not expire! Please make sure your mailing address is current and accurate in MyWSU before submitting your application.

When will I receive my card?

Please allow approximately 20–25 days after submitting your application for your grocery voucher to arrive.

Where can I use my grocery voucher?

For the Tango Grocery Voucher Program, vouchers are restricted to merchants classified as MCC 5411 – Grocery Stores and Supermarkets. A list of major grocery chains that are generally classified under MCC 5411 is below; however, we recommend you check with an individual store if you have questions about eligibility.  Walmart, Target, Costco, Sam’s Club, convenience stores, pharmacies, and other general merchandise retailers have been excluded from this list because they may be coded under merchant categories other than MCC 5411.

Will receiving financial aid affect my eligibility?

Your financial aid status does not affect your eligibility for grocery voucher assistance. However, grocery voucher assistance may be considered income for some students and could potentially affect certain financial aid circumstances. If you have questions about how the assistance may affect your individual situation, contact the WSU Global Campus Financial Aid Office at global.financialaid@wsu.edu.
