ASWSU Global — President’s Report

ASWSUG President, Gina M Vasquez

The last couple weeks have been eventful and busy. The RAA Committee is officially up and running! The applications for the Director of Diversity are being reviewed and will be, if they are not already, posted on our Teams page for review. One candidate has been contacted for the Director of Resources position. The bylaws have also been posted on the website and can be found in the legislative affairs channel for review. I attended two important SGC meetings last week. One was regarding the cancellation of spring break 2021 along with additional changes made to the spring semester cal-endar. I will talk more about this and answer any questions as indicated in the agenda. The second meeting was regarding the changes to student pay and its system-wide implementation. Our campus has already made the switch to this pay method but the final meeting regarding this change took place on October 16th. If you have any addi-tional questions please ask, if it is a question specific to your pay, we can chat over Teams sometime this week. Fall GA for the WSA also took place this weekend. I’ve been able to do research on the food voucher initiative and will be working with Heather and Laud to see this through.

ASWSU Global — Director of Legislative Affairs’ Report

Samantha Fakharzadeh, ASWSUG Director of Legislative Affairs

What I Am Working on Currently

I have been working on voting encouragement and education. I recently guest spotted on my friends’ podcast and shared some interesting and little-known history of election corruption in America during the early 1900s. I attended the SGC legislative committee meeting and was named vice-chair of the committee. I am also speaking at the S&A meeting about disabled student transportation access and a panel about the Washing-ton College Grant for WSA.

What I Am Working on in the Near Future

Meeting the WSA committees and SGC committees, organizing my schedule for Olympia.

Any Updates

None to report!

Project Ideas

None in mind!

Meeting Updates (ones you have attended without other board members)

SGC is working on holding administration accountable for their lack of transparency in choosing what happens to students tuition and their COVID responses. The DoLAs and I have done a lot of work to make sure that we have great bill proposals to present to the rest of WSA at our General Assembly. Hopefully we can get some of them written into law.

What You Will Be Working On Between Now and the Next Meeting:

As of now, I am currently working on ways to  survey students in order to find out ways I could better assist them academically, mentally and emotionally. I am connecting with Chelsea in order to put this event together. I also planned a meeting with Heather to see any advice she may have.

ASWSU Global — Director of Communication and Compliance Report

Tessa Endencia, ASWSUG Director of Communication and Compliance

Brief Summary of What You Have Been Working On

I’ve been geeking out over our web analytics and email data! At the moment, we have a high open rate, but a pretty low clickthrough rate, and my goal is to increase engagement. I’ll be tackling that by attempting to identify data points that can indicate an interest in engagement (e.g., joining a committee) and using those data points to hit them with targeted messaging.

On a more human front, I am also reaching out to student involvement and attempting to get involved with the registered student organizations — particularly if there’s any way we can provide support as an online community.

What You Will Be Working On Between Now and the Next Meeting

I’m looking to set up meetings with student involvement and also get more eyes on our web and email data for ideas on optimization.

Any Updates

We just put in our second offer on what I can only describe as my dream house. Keeping our fingers crossed that it goes through!
