Formal Minors

HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT MINOR
Note: Students who wish to pursue a human resource management minor must be pursuing a major outside the Carson College of Business.

Human Resource Management Minor Certification Requirements:

Before enrolling in WSU courses which fulfill this minor, students must be certified in a major, and have applied for certification to this minor.

The minor in human resource management requires a minimum of 18 credits of coursework, including:
  • Students must maintain an overall GPA of at least 2.5 in the courses used to fulfill this minor.
  • A minimum of 9 credits of upper-division coursework must be taken in residence at WSU.
  • Up to 6 credits may be transferred from another institution.

All courses are 3 credits, unless noted.

  • Required (15 credits):
    • MGTOP 215 - Business Statistics OR
      PSYCH 311 - Elementary Statistics in Psychology
    • MGMT 301 - Principles of Management and Organization
    • MGMT 450 - Managing Human Resources
    • MGMT 455 - Recruiting and Hiring Human Capital
    • MGMT 456 - Evaluating and Rewarding Employees
  • Choose one course from the following
    • H_D 205 - Developing Effective Communication and Life Skills (4 credits)
    • MIS 250 - Managing Information Technology
