Before You Get Started
What skills does online learning require?
WSU Online lets you study when and where you want. With that freedom comes the responsibility to schedule your time wisely. Our advisors, mentors, and support staff will help you stay on track. But, in the end, you’ll need to be good at organizing your time.
Will my previous credits transfer?
Recent credits from a reputable institution usually transfer. When you apply, we will do an official analysis of your transcript. For an unofficial and preliminary assessment, visit the Transfer Student Center.
How many transfer credits do I need?

Are the courses accelerated? Do I learn at my own pace?
WSU uses the semester system, although we offer a three-week Winter Session, a three-week Intersession, and opportunities to earn one credit during a three-hour academic seminar. You can study at your convenience, but are required to meet due dates for assignments.
Are the courses completely online?
Yes. You can complete your degree from anywhere you have an Internet connection. We will, however, invite you to social gatherings.
Do I have to be online at specific times?
Rarely. In a few courses, a professor may ask students to log on at a certain time. The professor will work with students to schedule a convenient time.
How much will it cost?
Online students generally pay the same tuition as on-campus students. Current undergraduate tuition rates are here.
How do I take exams?
Most exams are unsupervised and can be taken wherever you like. A few require supervision of a proctor, such as at a library or community college, or by using an online exam proctoring service.
Do I have to attend full time to get financial aid?
No. The minimum is half time: six credits for undergraduates, and five credits for graduate and professional students.
When I graduate, will my diploma say WSU Online?
Your diploma will say Washington State University. You will be a full-fledged WSU graduate. You can join the Alumni Association, network with fellow grads, and proudly wear the crimson and gray.
