Graduation Procedures

Application for Graduation

Once you have completed 90 credits and are certified in your major, you can apply for graduation in myWSU. The graduation date is something that you determine—you may elect to graduate at the end of fall, spring, or summer semester.

How to apply:

  • From your myWSU Student Homepage, select Academic Advising.
  • Select Apply to Graduate from the left menu. Note: If you’re unable to proceed after this step, you may be short of earning 90 credits, or not yet certified. Please contact your academic advisor for more information.

Reviewing your degree requirements:

When you complete the graduation application, an audit of your degree is initiated using your Academic Progress report in myWSU. After applying for graduation, you can run an Academic Progress report at any time to monitor your progress.

To access your Academic Progress report:

  • From your myWSU Student Homepage, select Academic Advising.
  • Select Academic Progress from the left menu.

Carefully review your Academic Progress report. As changes to your WSU academic record occur, they will be recorded on the University transcript system and your Academic Progress report should reflect those changes. If you see any discrepancies or have any questions, contact your academic advisor.

During your last semester, you should be enrolled in the courses your Academic Progress report indicates you still need. If your Academic Progress report lists a course you need that you are not enrolled in, or if you see any discrepancies, contact your academic advisor immediately.

If you find that you need more time to complete your degree, changing your date of graduation is no problem! You may change your graduation date online through the WSU Graduations Office.

Commencement Activities

Commencement is an exciting time—and we strongly encourage you to join the festivities! It’s an experience that many students say they’ll never forget. If you do plan on attending commencement on the WSU Pullman campus, be sure to book hotel accommodations early. Hotel rooms in Pullman are often booked up a year in advance.

Below are WSU campuses that hold commencement ceremonies which Global Campus students can participate in. Select the links to view commencement information, and be aware that each campus has their own registration deadline. Note: No matter what ceremony you choose to attend, you must have applied to graduate before you can register for the ceremony.

Graduation Receptions

In addition to the commencement ceremonies, ASWSU Global, the Global Campus student government, hosts informal graduation receptions for Global Students to celebrate with fellow students, their families, faculty and staff. These receptions are held in May, and take place in Seattle and on the WSU Pullman campus. Find out more about ASWSU Global Graduation Receptions in CougSync.
