Technology Troubleshooting — FAQs

<< Back to Tech Support Center

Problem: I forgot my Network ID and/or my password.
Solution: Visit Find Your Network ID. If that doesn’t work, contact Student Computing Services at 800-608-3839.

Problem: I can’t get into Registration, myWSU, or “myDDP.”
Solution: During times of heavy use, you may experience delays or technical difficulties. Try again later. If you are a new student, you may not have a WSU Network ID password yet (see Network ID and Login information) or you may not be entered in the DDP database yet. Wait 24 hours and try again.

Problem: My CD-ROM/DVD/VHS won’t play.
Solution: First, be sure to read the instructions included with your course media. Those instructions will inform you of any technology requirements necessary for your course media to play. Second, double-check your course media to determine whether it is a CD-ROM or DVD. We have many students who accidentally attempt to play CD-ROMs in their DVD players without realizing it! If attempting to play a DVD on your personal computer, double-check your hardware. Many, but not all, computers are outfitted to play DVDs. If your CD-ROM/DVD/VHS still won’t play, contact DDP immediately.

Problem: My course materials include a VHS, but I no longer have a VCR.
Solution: We are working to convert all of our course materials from VHS to DVD, but a small number of courses still have VHS cassettes. If you no longer have a VCR, you may be able to view your course material at your local WSU Learning Center. If a WSU Learning Center is not in your area, contact your local library. Many libraries offer VCR rentals.

Problem: The Web page does not change (e.g. the status of grades, course work doesn’t update).
Solution: It is very likely that your browser is viewing older versions (cached versions) of the Web pages. Adjust your browser’s settings to make sure you are seeing the most recent pages.

Problem: The login page loads instead of the “My DDP” menu page that is bookmarked or set as a favorite.
Solution: Access to the secure “My DDP” menu page is dependant on verification of identity (authentication) through the WSU Network ID login and password. If you are not logged in (because you previously logged off, time out, closed your browser, or shut down your computer) you have not been verified and the login page will load instead of your “myDDP” menu.

Problem: My new DDP courses don’t show up in “myDDP” and some of my DDP courses don’t show up on myWSU.
Solution: DDP maintains a database of all DDP course registrations, those processed directly through DDP (i.e. flexible enrollment courses) and those received from Registration (semester-based courses). Since the registration data does not come from only one source, the information may appear in “myDDP” at different times. Wait 24 hours and try again. If they have not appeared by then, please contact DDP.

Problem: The contents in PDF files aren’t visible even though I have Adobe Acrobat Reader loaded.
Solution: Netscape is very sensitive to how contents are coded and often will not display PDF file contents if the coding is not exactly as it requires. Try viewing problem PDF files with Internet Explorer; it is less sensitive. If you get an error message when trying to view PDF files, make sure you have a current version of Adobe Acrobat Reader loaded.

Problem: I don’t know how to cut and paste from my word processing program into my online learning space.
Solution: Select the text you want to copy using these steps:
