Finance CenterFrequently Asked Questions |
Do I need to be enrolled full-time to receive financial aid?
No. To receive financial aid you must be enrolled at least half-time at WSU. Three-quarter time enrollment also qualifies for financial aid. Half-time enrollment is 6 credits for undergraduate students and 5 credits for graduate and professional students; three-quarter time enrollment is 9-11 credits.
Can I attend two universities and receive financial aid at both?
Federal law prohibits you from receiving financial aid from more than one institution. However, if you are required to take courses at another institution in order to finish your degree at WSU, a consortium agreement may increase your financial aid eligibility to assist with the additional tuition costs. A consortium agreement allows you to use WSU financial aid to help cover the cost of attending the other institution. Contact the DDP Financial Aid Counselor (888-22-4978) for more information.
What will delay receiving my financial aid?
Receiving your financial aid award offering and/or disbursement can be delayed for several reasons:
- Not responding promptly to requests for supplemental information for your FAFSA will delay receipt of your award offering.
- Stafford Loans:
- Adding and dropping courses (this changes your cost of enrollment and delays the pending Stafford Loan application process)
- Failing to complete the Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling session. This session can be completed online at Mapping Your Future.
- Perkins Loans:
- If you accept a Perkins Loan you must complete a Perkins Loan Promissory Note packet before it can be disbursed to you.
- You will receive this packet by mail—contact the Student Loan Office if you did not receive yours.
