<< Back to Degrees and Certificates
Do you like using technology to solve problems and improve business processes? Do you enjoy working with people and computers? Earn your Bachelor’s degree in MIS online from WSU, the largest and most comprehensive MIS program in the Pacific Northwest.
The WSU MIS curriculum emphasizes both technical and business skills. Courses provide extensive hands-on experience in building software applications as well as an understanding of the people side of information systems. Students learn to effectively collaborate with non-technical business people to interpret the information needs of an organization, then design sound software applications to meet those needs.

Computer-related Requirements:
- Skill level: Students should have good basic computing skills; students who do not have good basic computing skills should find local resources to improve their skills before considering enrollment in WSU MIS courses.
- Hardware: Hardware requirements (e.g. processor power, CD drives) may also be higher for MIS courses. Exact details for hardware requirements for each course will be available on each course's online syllabus. Meeting hardware requirements for any MIS course is the student s responsibility.
- Software: Certain MIS courses, because of their pedagogical goals, require the student to have access to particular types of software. All courses require Microsoft Office 97 (or higher)—including PowerPoint—and Acrobat Reader 5.0 and may require additional software; a complete list of the software requirements for each course will be listed in each course's online syllabus. Although students can typically purchase software at educational discounts from the WSU bookstore, the Bookie, or through other affiliated educational software programs, the overall cost of materials required for the MIS curriculum may be higher than for other majors. Meeting software requirements for any MIS course is the students responsibility.
- Internet connectivity: All MIS courses depend on the student having a good Internet connection. In many instances, course deliverables (including exams, online tutorials, etc.) will require the student to access and submit assignments during a specific time. While some DDP courses may not require this level of connectivity, most courses in the MIS curriculum may have higher connectivity requirements. It is up to each student to ensure that his/her Internet connection is sufficient (both in terms of speed and reliability) for any MIS course in which he/she is enrolled.
