DDP courses provide all the benefits of campus courses plus the added benefit of allowing you to “attend class” when it’s most convenient for you.
If you plan to add DDP courses to your schedule to complete a campus degree, you do not need to change your campus or your advisor.
Students who want to change to the Distance Degree Programs (DDP) campus must complete and submit the Change of Campus Form (print and submit to DDP) by the deadline.
For more detailed information about who should complete a change of campus form, see Who Needs To Complete a Change of Campus Form.
How DDP courses and campus courses are similar
- All DDP courses are WSU courses. A DDP course has the same learning objectives and degree of rigor as the equivalent campus course and requires the same amount of study, preparation and participation.
- DDP courses appear on your transcript exactly like campus courses.
- Courses follow the same calendar as campus courses, with some exceptions (see DDP academic calendar), have the same tuition and are included when counting credits toward full-time enrollment.
- The process, requirements and consequences for dropping or withdrawing from DDP courses are the same as campus courses.
How DDP courses and campus courses are different
- All DDP courses are conducted online, asynchronously, so you don’t have to attend class at a specific time but you do need to complete the coursework within a predetermined amount of time. Your syllabi, assignments, and course information is within your online course space. Become familiar with the online learning environment; take the Angel Introductory Tutorial.
- Required course material can vary depending on the course. A DDP course can have any combination of textbooks, media you view in the online Media Center, rental media that is shipped to you (that must be returned at the end of the semester), and media you obtain on your own. Read more about required course materials.
