Required Course Materials

<< Back to Academic Support Center

Required course materials will vary depending on the specific course. Required course material may include media (videos, CDs, DVDs), lab kits, or textbooks. You will find the required course materials for a specific course listed in the WSU Schedules of Classes (click on “more information” to find required course materials). After you register for a course, the required course materials will be listed on your myDDP page; log in to myDDP, open the My Courses tab, and click on Current Courses to view required course materials.

Media and Lab Kits

Courses with required media or lab kits are denoted by an “R” or “U” in the Schedules of Classes Notes Field:
“R” What it means:
If you register for a course with an “R” indicated in the Notes Field, it means you will rent the required material from DDP. DDP will ship the material to you via the most appropriate means, including FedEx, UPS and DHL. Students who have a post office box receive materials through the U.S. Postal Service.

Note: FedEx requires a physical shipping address.

Rental material is the property of WSU and must be returned by the indicated deadline to avoid late fee(s).

Update your shipping address at myDDP. Choose the "My Profile" tab then update under shipping address.
“U” What it means
If you register for a course with a “U” indicated in the Notes Field, it means you have chosen to check out the material from a WSU Learning Center or WSU campus. There is usually no fee for this service.

A very few “U” section DDP courses also have media that can only be rented from DDP (because of copyright laws). For those courses, DDP will ship the copyrighted media to you and bill your student account the applicable rental fee. You must still checkout the non-restricted media from a WSU campus or Learning Center.
Note: If DDP has to re-ship materials to you, a $15.00 re-shipment fee will be applied to your student account. Update your shipping address at myDDP. Choose the "My Profile" tab then update under "Shipping Address".

Example:

Schedules of Classes

Notes Sec SLN CR Days & Times Bldg & Room
HD 346 Childhood and School Age Care
R 01 00010 3 ARRGT WEB ARR
In this example, you can see by the “R” in the Notes Field that this course has required course media that you rent from DDP. DDP will ship the material and bill your student account the applicable rental fee. Notice there is not a “U” section for this course.

Example:

Schedules of Classes

Notes Sec SLN CR Days & Times Bldg & Room
HD 300 Child Abuse and Neglect
R 01 00001 3 ARRGT WEB ARR
HD 300 Child Abuse and Neglect
U 02 00002 3 ARRGT WEB ARR
In this example, you have the choice of registering in either Section 01 (R), which means you choose to rent the required materials from DDP, or registering in Section 02 (U), which means you choose to access the material from a WSU campus or Learning Center. When registering, indicate the schedule line number (SLN) that corresponds to the appropriate section.

Once your registration is complete, access myDDP, choose the My Courses tab and select Current Courses to review information regarding your required course materials. Verify media and other material associated with your courses and track delivery of materials under Rental Media Tracking for each course. Allow at least 24 hours for updates. If you find you have mistakenly registered in the wrong section, contact DDP right away.
