Note: WSU campus students work with their campus advisors to choose DDP courses (click here for information about registering for DDP courses), and non-degree seeking students choose their courses on their own and are not subject to advising holds.
The following information applies only to students who are pursuing their degrees from Distance Degree Programs.
To ensure that you are taking courses that successfully fulfill your degree requirements, WSU policy requires that every undergraduate student, including DDP students, meet with his or her academic advisor each semester prior to registration—DDP students usually “meet” with their advisors via e-mail or telephone. To support this policy, an advising hold is placed on every undergraduate student’s registration each semester.
Until the advising hold is lifted you will not be able to register for courses.
The University may place other holds on your registration that you must take action on before being allowed to register.
How to have your advising hold lifted:
- Your First Semester
- Contact your academic advisor to review your academic progress report (APR) and discuss the courses you wish to take.
- Your advisor will determine if you must complete the upper-division writing portfolio general education requirement.
- After your advising session, your advisor will remove your advising hold.
- You will now be able to register for courses during open registration.
- Subsequent Semesters
In subsequent semesters, to have your advising hold lifted and gain access to the registration system, you must:- review your academic progress report (APR) with your advisor to discuss the courses you wish to take
