Media You Get on Your Own

Some courses may require that you obtain certain media titles on your own. You may choose to rent or purchase these titles from a local Blockbuster, Netflix, library, or other media rental/purchase outlet when your course syllabus indicates you will need them. This media will be listed in the “More Information” link under “Media you get on your own” in the Course Materials section (and in myDDP under Current Courses, Required Course Materials).

You are not charged by WSU for “You Get” media as you are responsible for obtaining this media on your own. You will be able to view your course syllabus in the course space on the first day of classes to find out when you will need this media for your course.

Media WSU Provides for You (denoted by an “R” in the Schedules of Classes Notes Field)

WSU will provide this media for you either by shipping materials to you (Media Rental) or providing the media online through the online Media Center in myDDP (Media Online).

This media will be listed in the “More Information” link under “Media WSU provides for you” in the Course Materials section (and in myDDP under Current Courses, Required Course Materials). Shipping usually begins for Media Rental items three weeks before the start of the term.

WSU provided media is charged to your student account. The media fee associated with each course is an instruction fee, is mandatory and due with tuition on the first day of the semester.

Courses with “R” (Required) Media that WSU Provides for You

Courses with required media or lab kits are denoted by an “R” in the Schedules of Classes Notes Field:
What “Media Rental” means:
DDP will ship the required material (CDs, DVDs, lab kits) to you via the most appropriate means, FedEx, UPS or U.S. Postal Service.

FedEx and UPS require a physical shipping address. Students who have a post office box receive materials through the U.S. Postal Service.

Rental material is the property of WSU and must be returned by the indicated deadline to avoid late fee(s). See Returning Course Rental Media.

Important: Verify your shipping address at myDDP. Choose the "My Profile" tab then update under “Shipping Address.”

If DDP has to re-ship materials to you, a $15.00 re-shipment fee will be applied to your student account.

Shipping usually begins for Media Rental items three weeks before the start of the term.
What “Media Online” means:
You will access the required material by logging in to the online Media Center in myDDP.

Media will be available to access from the online Media Center in myDDP once your enrollment has been processed.

It is recommended that you check your computer speed and review the information on the Technology Requirements Web page to determine that you will be able to successfully view the media on your computer.

If you find you are unable to view the media online, go to Technology Requirements to request a hard copy of the media that will be shipped to you within four business days from the day of your request.

Important: Media shipped to you is the property of WSU and follows the same return deadlines and restrictions as Media Rental items. If you are requesting a hard copy of online media you are unable to view on your computer, please read and follow the information listed under What “Media Rental” means.
