Module 5
Integrity, Sustainability, Efficiency
Goal
To become familiar with strategies and requirements for developing a sustainable, efficient and "honest" course.
Learning Objectives:
Upon the completion of this module the learner will be able to...
- Create activities and strategies for assignments that promote academic integrity.
- Articulate the requirements for satisfying Web Accessibility and Copyright laws related to the online course environment.
- Identify decisions that impact sustainability of the course.
- Identify strategies that serve to decrease the instructor's time commitment in the online course.
Overview:
The online environment presents complexities beyond the face-to-face classroom. Copyright law applies the TEACH Act, specifically to online courses, and ADA accessibility must be considered throughout the course development process. In addition, we are often asked, how will I know that the student doing the work is the student enrolled in the course? Online and on-campus, academic integrity must be fostered. The Seven Strategies article by Olt provides guidelines that can be applied beyond the discussion forums, in the design of assignments for the online classroom.
